The Stuart Richardson House

Glen Ridge, New Jersey

The house’s original prefabricated enameled steel kitchen cabinetry was removed decades ago and replaced with casework in keeping with other cabinetry found in the house. Over the course of 20 years, the built-in appliances installed with the cabinetry reached the end of  their service lives, and the red solid surface countertops were found to be unevenly fading under the kitchen’s original skylight.

Our work was to coordinate alterations to the existing cabinetry to integrate new appliances, fixtures, countertop/backsplash; coordinate gas piping to new dual fuel range, and introduce an exhaust hood direct vented to the exterior.

The Stuart Richardson House - Kitchen Alterations

Amid the kitchen alterations, Dan addressed the need for improved air flow to an adjacent utility room by introducing a vent to the room’s door that is a smaller scale version of a slat screen near the house’s dining area.
