Moorestown, New Jersey

The Township of Moorestown worked with Ragan Design Group for a reimagining of its municipal complex site. Having outgrown its existing buildings, one of which had been tragically damaged by a fire, a renewed campus was sought. As the site was in the middle of the picturesque downtown of Moorestown, the new building(s) needed to be woven seamlessly into their context. A 1930’s era Colonial Revival recreation center, itself a remnant of a long demolished high school became the pattern book for the new building’s outward appearance in terms of materials and architectural “grammar”.

The new building is two conjoined buildings: a Library and Town Hall. Each has its own distinct identity and entrance, but the two buildings have related architectural “grammar” and therefore blend to form a single composition that itself relates to the context of the existing Recreation Center.
